Create an API key under Settings → Stats API. The key is shown once, when it is created — copy it then. An account can hold five keys, and any one can be revoked.
Each request downloads statistics for a selected period — yesterday, the last 30 days or the last 400 days. The full reference is in the Stats API settings.
